Maddy, I'm a longtime Firefox user, and would love to test drive the extension, but I'm not onboard with the salon software (grrrrrrr, we're not online at all STILL).
Extensions are usually available to all Firefox users, but in this case, MagiKal may have made it proprietary to people who actually USE THIS SOFTWARE. MajiKal, I'm really pushing to get online where I work, and I've been reading this thread from the start. I'm VERY interested in how things are going. Is this software compatible with Quickbooks or Outlook for syncing with a PDA? I'm in a booth rental situation, where we would ALL have access to the computer if I can get them convinced that online/computerised is the way to go. I have a Palm TX and an iPod Touch, J has an iPhone, another gal has a kRZR. Is this even doable for us all, or would we be tied to the shop computer (I think we SHOULD be tied to the shop computer) if we implemented this?

Hi Maddie and Skwij,
Maddie first: yes anyone can use it Maddie, including clients. I think your sid number is 83 and your business subdomain prefix is madartist. Enter those variables into your options and restart your browser. It doesn't matter who installs it because they will still be prompted to login. Not sure if you found this page but here is a detailed description of the options. Click each image for a larger view. http://www.beautybyus.com/bbu/extension/ I just prefer that people download it from the mozilla addon site instead of from BBU. I have a few things to modify in the addon and the most important right now is the immediate recognition of any changes to the options [it's called an event listener]. This will remove the need to restart the browser after making any changes to your options. I think one of the nice things about it is that it will provide convenience, and it will make it easier for new clients to find their desired destination. Should I incorporate the extension link into your homepage? I could display it only to Firefox users and bypass IE users. Finally, I have been snooping around the Microsoft website to explore the possibility of making a similar addon for IE. I will keep you posted. [Magikal] |

Hi Skwij,
I haven't developed any page stream for any PDA at this point. But anyone can login from any computer, at home, at work or on a notebook through wireless WAN. Nevertheless, you can still receive SMS notices on your cell phone or PDA (i.e. when someone books or when an appointment is cancelled). The extension is completely separate from the appointment system so anyone can install it Skwij. It's just that most of the addon's associated URLs are site specific and prompts those who are not logged in to do so before they can enter any pages that require membership. - - - - - - - - - - The way that we have set up tiered security allows the business owner, whether it be you or one of your friends, to specify who can access client and appointment details, add notes, book outside of any restriction parameters and control the business settings. So the owner would create the initial business, then assign each of the others as a manager, as well as create a login identity for the shop. This way everyone who works there has their own private login identity, but the one for the shop could be disclosed to everyone who works in the shop. This way any one of you could login on the shop computer as "shop" and yet retain your own private login identity for your home computer. If one of you left the company then the password for the shop identity could be changed and their managerial status could be removed, preventing them from having any further access to the business controls. If their departure happened to be really nasty then the owner or one of the remaining managers could also suspend that former employee's booking privileges entirely. - - - - - - - - - - Am sorry about the limitations with PDAs at the moment. I have given this long and serious thought. There are a few other priorities to attend before I can go in that direction. Punctually yours, [Magikal] |

Yes that is my account info...do all my clients use the same info when they set up their browsers or do they have their own sid number? (well we all know that I will be setting up their browsers LOL ... a few spend more time telling me they can't do it, than listening to HOW to do it)

Yes Maddie. They would enter the same info into their options.
And if they set a permanent cookie the next time they login then all they have to do is double click the status bar icon to go into your appointment book. It's simply too easy for the nay sayers! |

Hi Maddie,
Your homepage redo is done. I've separated $message $hours and $services into individual pages (it's actually all one page of code/html). You will see a new set of buttons across the top of your page. I've also added a cool Google Map with code that extracts the raw street address from the database, geoencodes it to precise latitude and longitude values, and then outputs the map onto the page (with widgets). The Google Map has it's own page as well, and includes a geomarker and a form for finding driving directions. The document has been tested in Safari 3.2.1, Opera 9.62, Firefox 3.0.4 and Internet Explorer 7. http://madartist.beautybyus.com/ - - - - - - - - - - I have 4 of 16 templates completed and the rest should be done before Christmas. They are all XHTML 1.0 Transitional. HO HO HO [Magikal] |

Separating the info into individual pages is SOOOOOOOOO much more organized! Plus it eliminates the scrolling which some people forget to do....no more missed information. And thank you for keeping the BOOKMARK button for IE users (been telling clients about the FF add-on, but you know how some people can be about installing new things on their computers).
The new interface is a lot easier to find exactly the info clients are looking for.

Thanks Kat...that was my fav of the templates that were offered. All I had to do was upload a banner and fill in any info that was asked. Took me about 30 minutes to set up and it was pretty intuitive ... but anytime I had a question, I could easily get Ron (Majikal) on my messenger. The control panel looks like this:
![]() I can access it anytime from my laptop or any computer I may be near and it's a great tool for keeping in constant contact with my clients. Some of them were reluctant to use it but, after I walked them through the process, they jumped right in.

Glad you like it Maddie. I do too. I see a few things that I will fix later (e.g. the bookmark link doesn't appear when viewing the Google map. It's a name-space thingy.
Have 6 templates done. Have 9 or 10 more to go. [Magikal] |
