Yes, the grund is a perm used with the treatment sprays and conditioners, flat ironed etc.
Thanks for clarifying that information Russell. It helps a lot. |

The smell was not bad at all, and no smoke during flat ironing. they, of course, provide their own clarifying shampoo which you are to use before the service and I have to say it wasn't bad combing it out. If you call the phone number, they are based in California, they are very helpful in getting you started. We have had a ton of phone calls already just from posting the pic on facebook. Never underestimate the power of Facebook. LOL

I just had a girl come in the other day that is supposedly certified to do the Brazilian blow out. Is certification a requirement? She said in L.A. she was charging around $500 and up here she was going to drop it to $200. What are you charging?
I am familiar with the Grund which is what I use but it is just way to time consuming. The hair feels awesome after though it is "permanent." My price starts at $250 and I've yet to find anybody willing to pay that in my area. There is no way I could charge less with time being the factor. You can shorten the time by not doing a pre-soften. I tried it once without the pre-soften on really curly/frizzy dry hair and it turned out nice but a bit of wave left in the nape. It defiantly cut the time almost in half but I think I still prefer the outcome of the full method better. The hair is like silk! Last edited by glamour; 03-12-2010 at 06:07 AM. |

I agree, Glamour. I don't do more than just my good friend at this point and we cut out the pre softening on her hair as it took almost all day when I did it. I have a hard time selling it because of the price. As it is I have a whole mittful of clients that have switched to box color to save money.
But, one actually recommended me to my color correction that I had yesterday. So I do know it has nothing to do with my work, purely cost savings for them.

I would like to try this on a short hairded 100% grey client that has a fuzzy coarse area on her right sideburn area. Does this also soften coarse hair and would you use it for that at all? Is it called Brazillian Blowout. Just wondering how to find out more about it here in the Northwest coast. I'm thinking if I try this on the client above, would it only last until the next cut.
Loved your pictures. |

Beautifully !! I've done 2 more and love love LOVE the results. I'm blow drying with no round brush, no paddle brush just my fingers and the hair looks like shiny straight breck girl hair. I will post more pics later. They are huffing and puffing about the price, but the pics definately help and we have 2 more booked for next week. BRING IT ON !! I think I will do mine in the summer.

The first thing my girls said was "we will never get anyone in this area to pay that much!" We are doing it. I've suggested to the girls when asked the price to say this. Well, in Hollywood, NY and most major cities they are charging $600, we are bringing it down to $250 so that you can enjoy it too. It's been working. Funny , this is a tactic my husband has been using on me for years when he buys a new guitar. He tells me first some ridiculous price like $1000 , so after I blow up he can say no it was only $500 and it doesn't seem quite so bad. LOL
One more before and after and this is a client who has bleach hilights, red red low lights and color over her 80%gray. Her hair felt great and I did not flat iron or round brush to style her out. Just blow dry. Its amazing. |
