Katharine McPhee goes Platinum!
Posted by: | CommentsI heard from a client (while I was coloring her hair no less) that Katharine McPhee had gone blonde and got all skinny. I decided to give it the good ole’ google search and voila’. In some pictures it looks a little wig like so I’m not completely sold that she took the bottle leap but it looks good on her, but then again she looked FABULOUS brunette!
Kim Kardashian goes Bling Bling BLONDE!
Posted by: | CommentsKim Kardashian unveiled her hot new ‘bling bling’ blond at this years Teen Choice Awards event.
Looks like she has some balayage highlights going on and who ever did it get a standing ovation from me! Brilliant technique and absolutely beautiful tone.
Anyone know who did the color?
Even though her length is extension hair (I’d imagine getting her black was a little rough on length), she still gets the Applause!

Young Hollywood done right!
Posted by: | CommentsSaw these photos of Vanessa Hudgens arriving at the 18th Annual MTV Movie Awards and thought she looked fabulous! Fashionable, fresh, current and most importantly, beautiful.
Megan Fox red carpet done right…
Posted by: | CommentsHere are a few photos of the Actress Megan Fox as she arrives at the premiere of Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen, on Monday, June 22, 2009, in Los Angeles.
Megan Fox does the red carpet right!
Her hair is fresh, interesting, cool and anything but boring old ‘young Hollywood’.
Thumbs up to you, Megan Fox.
PS- Megan, Call me!
Bohemian + Glam makes it work!
Posted by: | CommentsIn my last post, I complained about the lack of style in long hair that is “young Hollywood”. While the girls are beautiful, the hair was just missing something…
After hours of sleepless nights trying to put my finger on what was ‘missing’. I finally realized what it was when I saw these pictures of Eva Longoria. What was missing was this.
When you have long wavy hair that isn’t layered very much, especially around the face you need a heaping dose of “BIG”!
Compare the lovely Kathering McPhee to Eva Longoria.
My father use to tell me “You can never make your client’s hair too BIG, too BLONDE, or too CURLY”. I finally understand.
But, I may be getting old and just don’t ‘get it’ “the way this younger generations swings, you know it’s more than just some new sensation. Seems the kids are into losing sleep and they don’t come home for half the week. You know, its more than just an aggravation.”
Sorry, I had a Van Halen moment….
GIRL! Get some bangs!
Posted by: | CommentsI am not sure, but I guess everything comes back around. What we are seeing now in young Hollywood is the Neuvo Riche Bohemian chic. Hair that is just too long and too unkempt, and basically hippie ‘natural’…
Personally, I’m not a big fan. In my humble opinion, long hair for the sake of long hair doesn’t make it pretty hair. There are times when hair is just plain TOO LONG! As pretty as young Hollywood is, the hippie ‘natural’ style just looks… well, un=stylish. I’m no longer interested in the center part either, it just doesn’t catch my eye or look interesting.
Maybe I’m just grouchy because I no longer have my hair, ‘my precious’ (best said with a Gollum voice).

More retro hair at red carpet in Cannes.
Posted by: | CommentsHere is Elizabeth Banks attending the Opening Ceremony Dinner at the Palais des Festivals during the 62nd International Cannes Film Festival on May 13, 2009 in Cannes, France. I’m glad to see a revival in classic hairdresser styling make it’s way back into modern culture. While I am not sure that it will ever take hold for your average person to wear on a daily basis, it’s still refreshing for my eyes to see. I would also like to add that I think that Drew Barrymore’s version was more modern and current but Elizabeth still looks great. SOOO much better than a boring messy bun. Is it just me because I’m over messy, just woke up from going out on a bender at prom last night type of gala hair…..
Thumbs up for Elizabeth Banks and STYLE!!!
Drew! Drew! Drew! Cheers to YEW!
Posted by: | CommentsDear Drew Barrymore
When I saw you on the red carpet event for the HBO Films premiere of ‘Grey Gardens’ at The Ziegfeld Theater, you took my breath away.
Your hair was beautiful, current yet paid homage to the glamor days of Hollywood without looking like a costumed attempt at vintage.
Bravo!

Style biter-Jessica Alba
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve always hear that everything old becomes new again. Here I present to you proof that statement is true, well, at least a little true, or at least the inspiration, or… Ok, maybe they are not exactly the same but when I saw Jessica it reminded me of Valerie when she was on One Day At A Time (yes, that is Luke Skywalker). I credit Schneider for teaching me all I know about getting with the Ladies!
Anyway!
Jessica Alba doing her best ‘modern’ Valerie Bertinelli impersonation.
Now, the original
The Review: Scarlett gets her hair did…
Posted by: | CommentsFrom time to time I will post a new type of post I like to call “The Review”. I, self appointed expert of all things hair related, at least on the Hairmaven website, will give a quite little critique of a celebrities hair style and a ranking from 1 to 10 (one being wretched and ten being hubba hubba FABULOUS!). This is only my opinion so take it with a grain of salt, others on the site (Presotto and Maddy) may disagree, but not if they know what’s good for them! Boy, did I take my grumpy pills this morning or what?!?! Just kidding guys!
Anyway, our first victum crituque…
Scarlett Johansson: Scarlett gets her hair colored from the trademark blonde to a beautiful shade of red. This is the first I’ve seen of her with a darker shade of hair. I think that it’s pretty, but for some reason I prefer Marilyn Monroe blonde. The platinum blonde makes her look so much more “sex kitten” than the red/brown. With the darker color she reminds me of a high school cheerleader that would turn me down when I asked her to the prom.
I assume the color change was for a role to tone down the ’sex kitten’ thing she has and make her more prom turn me down cheerleader type, so I can’t hold that against her.
While I think that her hair was colored technically well, the styling leaves something to be desired. As far as I can tell she has WAY too much silicone on her hair leaving it lacking moisture (hence the fly aways), it’s had the piss flat ironed out of it and it need some freaking LAYERS!!!! What is up with “Hollywood” and the “models” not having any layers in their hair? Just makes them look doubty and lacking in style!
Color Rank: 8/10
Hairstyle Rank : 5/10
Overall: 7/10
PS- Scarlett, call me girl!
