The LA Cosmetology “Caucus”

The LA Caucus did not have enough attendees to justify a full blown seminar, so instead and as a treat to those who already purchased tickets, airfare and hotels, we are going to be doing a very special “unplugged” version of the Caucus this weekend.
The line up is as follows
The Netwerk will be doing mens cutting first thing on Sunday morning
Anthony Presotto will be presenting on marketing and salon business practices (how to run a successful business, promotion, advertising, etc.)
And I will be doing a haircutting presentation on the implementation of modernizing of classic shapes.
The following day, in the morning we will be working hands on doing at least 2 haircuts, I plan on pushing for 3. I know, such a slave driver! 
After noon we will be having a hair party and we are all going to cut and color each others hair! WHOO … oh wait…. I don’t have any hair

Oh, Russell, all us girls are so EXCITED. It is going to be so much fun. I cannot tell you how much this weekend is going to mean to me. So excited to meet Anthony and everyone.

and of course I get to hang with a group of my favorite people, Hairdressers! Plus I get to talk all about me.... oh and some stuff on salons..... LOL!!!
I will roll into town on Thursday sometime. I am currently in Vegas (again) and not looking forward to the predicted foul weather I am heading into on my way to CA.

I saw that foul weather comment on facebook, Anthony. Not nice. We have been so beautiful up here for the last week or so it is almost disappointing to leave. Go from where all our snow has almost melted and it has been sunny to....Rain. (It is usually -30 or more this time of year with lots of snowing.)
But, I think we will have such a great time. I am so looking forward to getting rejuvinated and my creative juices flowing again. Travel safe everyone. See you all soon.

WOW, awesome I am jumping up and down for all of you. I was so hoping to go but I had another opportunity arise that I couldn't refuse. I'm now the building & property owner of my salon and the 2 other units which will be finalized the end of this month. YAY~
January, the rain, YUK. Maybe by next weekend things will settle down and you'll get a spurt of sunshine.
I want to hear all about this, and TONS of pictures please.

Well Caucus "Unplugged" was just fantastic!
I would like to thank all the attendee's, the fact you guys made the effort to come was just great. I know I had a great time sharing my information as well as being inspired by the Netwerk guys. And of course any time spent with the Maven is priceless.

I have to say the weekend was absolutely amazing. The information was FABULOUS, the fellowship AWESOME, the weather TERRIFIC, and I am just sorry it went so fast. Russell, you went above and beyond in your hospitality and everything. Thanks for sharing some of your jaunts with us and for bringing the AMAZING guys from the Netwerk. I ordered their DVD last night. I can't wait. Anthony, I thank you for coming such a long way to fellowship and share. I am sorry we didn't get to see your brother and wife more. And a shout out to my new BFF's Lily, thanks for the awesome doo. My hubby loves it. Patti, thanks for the laughs and road trips. I can honestly say that you have both given me the bug to do this more. Maybe Long Beach Hair show next year? With a stop at the Network for a 4 hour class? and if Russell would have us, I would definitely take another class from him.

Jenn, you must check them out. www.thenetwerkacademy.com. There were five guys doing cuts. All of them were fantastic. I liken them to a modern version of Toni and Guy in their callibre. I would so be there. To start saving now and I would definitely do this again.

It was so nice meeting everyone. One of the things that I always want is to be surrounded by wonderful talented people in the industry. The fact that I got to put faces to names was wonderful too. It was a great pleasure to meet everyone and I am so amped up. Thanks you Anthony for your wonderful presentation. Although I have read all your posts it was so refreshing to bounce feedback off of you in person. And to all the ladys, it was so great talking and getting inspiration. Just a fab weekend.

I am repeating myself but the event was that wonderful~and it was because of you and Anthony.
There wouldn't have been an event for us ladies to go to without your tenacity to get the unplugged version for us. [love that term Anthony]
Sage and Barbara it was so wonderful to spend time with you at Ruth Chris, nice to converse in a beautiful restaurant with awesome, kind, people. I still like the name oh, or was it oh zone?? lol
Lily and Tonya can't wait till we meet again, Kim it was a pleasure to meet you, like Tonya said wish we could have seen you more.

I have been working today and I can tell you my partings are cleaner, my posture is better, and my goal is to sell to every client today....so far 50 percent~

As Robert Cromeans says it is not the motivation that gets people to change, it is being inspired that brings real change and growth,

Well said, Patti. I don't think words or anything I do could ever convey my gratitude for Anthony and Russell stepping up like they did. Now it is just the "homework" to set my plans in motion and practice changing the bad habits that I have had for so long.
I wish I could have said goodbye to Sage. She was a hoot. I still like the Oh Zone.
I still wish I could have stayed for the ISSE show in Long beach. FOr anyone that is lucky enough to go, make sure to check out Russell and the Netwerk. It will be a fabulous treat.

Okay I'm finally having an opportunity to post and add my comments about our Cosmic California Cosmo Caucus!
Thank you Russell for your awesome hospitality. Thank you for bringing us The Netwerk. Thank you for the Krispy Kremes and for lunch. I got so much out of your cutting demonstration and instruction on Sunday. And, under your guidance I did my best graduated bob ever on the mannequin. As a result, the grad bobs I've done this week are MUCH improved.
Specifically, what has helped is what you said about switching sides when moving from the nape section to the next section up - if you started on the left, then start on the right for the next section, and so on. And, only cut an inch or so of hair at a time, then reposition to keep the tension and angle conforming to the shape of the head. Brilliant!
Anthony, you also gave us great information. I have been looking at my notes this week and thinking thinking thinking, evaluating and re-evaluating my goals and direction. This is something I really needed to do.
Babycakes, you are awesome. Thanks for helping out with our little soiree. I wish you all the best, and much success.
To my girlz, you guys are the best cackling buddies ever. Tonya, my haircut is fab, I am enjoying it very much!
Lastly, thanks Julie for your initial effort in creating the California Cosmo Caucus.

Lily, it is great to hear you on here. You have voiced what Patti and I have been feeling and sharing since the event. I have truly been inspired to raise the bar not just for myself but for the entire industry. I honestly have to say that Russell has been a big mentor for me, whether he realizes it or not. I find his work ethic, passion for the craft and unselfishness such a change from the hurdles I have faced in the first 15 years of my career. From hearing the negativity and slams that I would never make it to finding such camradere (however it is spelled) has really instilled I AM in the RIGHT career.
I really felt surrounded by like minds and there is nothing more that I firmly believe is that whether professional, personal or religious, you need to surround yourself with people you want to be like. I really felt the learning and the educators we had were such people, as well as my new BFF's Lily and Patti. I REALLY want to do this again, soon. THe recharging I experienced was bar none, the best.
I love to cackle, and that definitely was one cackling weekend.
And, Lily, so glad your hair is working. I feel your do on me is working wonders. I have had Outstanding compliments from just about everyone I have seen. I must keep this style for awhile. I guess a road trip to BC is in the works.

I will take hubby next year to ISSE show, so we can look forward to getting together in January in Long Beach~
Anthony, I love that you are extending our learning oppurtunity, yes I will take you up on your generous offer to us caucas ladies~ you rose the bar and you have some faithful followers that want to do the same.
Italy in 8 days~I am sure I will find things to inspire me professionally, spiritually and personallly, I love the fact that we can find so many things outisde the industry and still have it influence in the salon. The netwerk are so awesome too, and I love that architeture inspires them, because I have that affinity too.
